So last night we went out and started celebrating the Virgin of Pilar. We went out and tried some awesome but expensive food (50 euros for 3 plates!) in one of the little authentic tents on Independencia and I had one of the most amazing waffles I've ever had. SOOO yummy. The lamb was good too! Then we walked around a bit in the pouring rain and ended up at the Plaza del Pilar and there was a concert going on so we stayed around there. Some of us split off and went to the concert but my friend and I went to meet up with her host sister and her friends. I met SO many Spanish kids last night it was so much fun! We took tons of pictures and laughed so much and some even practiced their English with us (probably because they felt they could after hearing how bad my Spanish was). It was so much fun to finally meet and actually be able to hang out with Spanish kids and experience the festival from the non-American side. Someone thought I was Scottish which almost made my night! Luckily, I left early because I didn't want to push my newly healthy body, and I'm glad I did because there were hardly any buses so I walked halfway but I didn't mind so much. I got home around 1:30..which was considered early! I'm definitely not used to having a 2 AM curfew..I'm still not used to the 12 AM curfew!!
I had a blast with both groups of friends last night and it was such a great night for the start of Pilar. I loved the fact that I spent most of it just standing and dancing in the rain!!
